Centre scientists speak out at climate talks
Interviews with two Centre scientists appear on Climate Change TV in relation to the UN climate talks in Doha, Qatar.
The use of trees by smallholder farmers in adapting to climate change is the subject of an interview with Dr Cheikh Mbow, Senior Scientist at the World Agroforestry Centre. He talks about how trees can be integrated with crops to improve soils and thus promote food security. Trees also have a valuable role in climate change mitigation. Dietrich Schmidt-Vogt, Senior Scientist at the World Agroforestry Centre, is interviewed about the importance of protecting biodiversity in East Asia. While some countries may appear to be increasing forest cover this is not always linked to greater biodiversity or the maintenance of ecosystem services.
