Paco Sereme is Executive Director of The West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development, (CORAF/WECARD). He holds a PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Rennes, (1985) France and a "Doctorat d'Etat Es-Sciences" in Plant Pathology from the University de Cocody, Côte d'Ivoire (1999). Additionally he has been trained on Corporate Governance and Leadership.
He was previously Director General of the National Agricultural Research Institute (NERA), Head of the Plant Pathology Laboratory of Kamboinsé‘s Research Station, and Director of the Scientific Cooperation at the National Centre for Scientific Research and Technology-all in Burkina Faso. Dr Sereme has also been a member of several Councils and Boards in the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the National Seed Research Centre of Burkina Faso, and National Committee of Agricultural Research of Mali. As a NARI leader, he was involved in the implementation of the first Agricultural Research Strategic Plan of Burkina Faso.
Dr Sereme is a member of the Scientific Committee of IER (Mali) and the Board of Directors of FARA. A number of distinguished titles have been conferred upon him, including Knight of the National Order of Merit, Burkina Faso, Knight of the Academic Palm Order, CAMES (African and Malagasy Council for of Scientific and High Education) and Knight of the National Education Order of Merit, Côte d'Ivoire.
Dr Sereme was a member of the CGIAR Task Forces on rationalization of its operations in Sub-Saharan Africa (2004 and 2005) and a member of WARDA DG Search Committee in 2005 and 2006.
