Improved fallows for western Kenya: an extension guideline

This extension guide reflects the current state of the practice in western Kenya of using improved fallows to build up soil fertility. The practices are the product of over seven years of collaborative research, extension and on-farm testing by researchers, non-governmental organizations and farmers. This extension guideline is one step in disseminating innovative agroforestry technologies that can meet the different needs of the farmers and improve the natural resoruce base. It is intended to serve as a useful guide for extension staff working in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations and farmers in western Kenya.
